The United Nations reminds us that the global water crisis does not affect all people equally. “Where people lack the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, inequalities flourish, with women and girls bearing the brunt.” As Catholic Women’s League members, we recognize the sacredness of water and our responsibility to protect it for future generations.
The League affirms the urgency of sustainable water use, conservation, and stewardship, acknowledging that access to clean water is essential for human dignity, health, and the common good.
We invite all members to read OPC Social Justice Chair, Hilarion Mitchell’s World Water Day document 👉 Social Media – World Water Day March 22. 2026 and reflect on the UN’s call to centre women and girls in water solutions, and take meaningful steps—through prayer, education, and advocacy—to protect water as a sacred gift for all.
